COVID stay away! Keeping your immune system healthy.

It is important to understand, that no supplement can cure or prevent COVID-19, and that at this point, the best way to avoid getting infected is social distancing. Nevertheless, research has shown that supplementing with certain vitamins, minerals, herbs, and other substances can improve immune response and potentially protect against illness. Understand that some supplements can interact with prescription or over-the-counter medications you are currently taking. Be sure to talk with your healthcare provider before starting any supplements.
There are tons and tons of supplements to boost your immune system in the market. During these crazy times, you want to pick supplements that have antiviral properties, and strengthen the ability your body has to fight infections.
Another important key to keeping to prevent infections and disease is to keep your immune system healthy all year round by making healthy lifestyle choices to keep your body function to the best of its abilities. Here is a little graph that I always present to the families I work with:

If you want your body to work to its best, you need to allow it to rest, fuel it with the right food, have daily bowels, and keep it active. If you are having an issue in any of these departments, then you should address them while introducing supplements.
The following supplements are recommended for immune boosting.
Echinacea - The herb Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea) is supportive of the immune system and has a direct anti-viral action against colds and viral bronchitis. Preparations that include both the roots and the flowering tops are the most effective at helping the body resist the viruses.
Vitamin D - A 2019 review of randomized control studies in 11,321 people, supplementing with vitamin D significantly decreased the risk of respiratory infections in people deficient in this vitamin and lowered infection risk in those with adequate vitamin D levels. Vitamin D also enhances the pathogen fighting effects of monocytes and macrophages (white blood cells that are important parts of your immune defense) and decreases inflammation, which helps promote immune response.
Vitamin C - It is perhaps the most popular supplement taken to protect against infection due to its important role in immune health. This vitamin supports the function of various immune cells and enhances their ability to protect against infection. It’s also necessary for cellular death, which helps keep your immune system healthy by clearing out old cells and replacing them with new one
Elderberry - Studies have shown the impact that Elderberry have in the treatment of Inlfuenza Type A & B. The phytochemicals from the elderberry juice were shown to be effective at stopping virus infecting the cells and inhibiting viral propagation at later stages of the influenza cycle when the cells had already been infected with the virus. This allows the body to respond to the pathogenic factor more efficiently.
I have put together two Viral Prep protocols and made them available at Wellevate. One for adults, and another one for children, or adults or teens that do not swallow capsules of tablets.
The adults protocol contains echinacea, vitamin D and Vitamin C. The children protocol contains elderberry (Sambucus), vitamin D and Vitamin C. All children supplements are liquid base and I also added an options for the elderberry in gummy form.
